Building the resources and assets of under-resourced college students has long been an area of focus. Recently, Karla Krodel co-authored the book, Understanding and Engaging Under-Resourced College Students: A fresh look at the influence of economic class on teaching and learning in higher education, with Karen Becker and Dr. Bethanie Tucker, also aha! Process Consultants. Karla has been a higher education administrator/ manager at Youngstown State University specializing in programs, for under-served population and strategic planning, partnership development, and outreach since 1997.
Karla believes strongly in an asset-based approach to student development, and is pioneering the integration of the concepts in Framework and Bridges Out of Poverty through the implementation of Getting Ahead: College Edition curriculum with post-secondary students.
