FCS FLASH Activity: Summer Mind Map

mind map illustrationWhite BarThis is the 18th FLASH e-newsletter for 2011-2012. This year’s FLASH activities have focused on Entrepreneurship and Student Success. In addition, we have linked you to some amazing articles and resources from our FCS experts and updated and provided online registration for many FCS events.  All in all, it has been an exciting and eventful year. As the semester winds down, we wanted to deliver a positive end of the semester activity on mind mapping. This exercise will help students as they shift their mindset into summer mode. A mind map is a tool your students can use over and over again in their personal and professional lives. It is an easy and unique way to set goals, organize projects and study for a test. Take a few minutes and end your class in a fun and memorable way with a summer mind map.

Try this...

Ask some questions to find out what students know about mind mapping.
What is a mind map? How have you used a mind map? Why would a mind map be useful to you?
Review mind map basics with this Tony Buzan video clip.
Distribute My My Summer Mind Map activity and give students time to fill it in.
Share onedifferent activities students have planned.
Suggest students use the reverse side of the paper to mind map what they learned in your course or their future career plans…
Looking for an additional end of the semester activity? Try “Successful Encounters".
