Annual Workforce Development Institute (WDI)

 

Dear Colleagues,


The American Association of Community Colleges is hosting its annual Workforce Development Institute (WDI) in Newport Beach, CA, on January 28 - 31, 2009.  This annual event takes place in California every few years as the actual site of the WDI alternates between Florida, Louisiana, and Arizona.  I have been in discussion with James McKenney of the AACC and he has graciously offered up some meeting space at this years' WDI for any of our CTE and/or workforce programs that might want to take advantage of this opportunity to join with their colleagues from across the country who will be gathering for this year's meeting.  Of course, both he and I will also be delighted if you should also take time to register for the WDI, regardless of whether you will also be planning on holding your meetings concurrently with the WDI.

This year's WDI should be an exciting one, and as the host state for this national community college workforce convening, it behooves us to participate actively and to share with our colleagues from other states the lessons we have learned from our collective experiences -- both the challenges and opportunities -- in developing and operating quality workforce education programs for both employers and students in our communities.
